Full Workstation cannot complete until the signed runtime manifest and its component archives are published. Use only an installer provided through the OSPRI release channel. Do not bypass Gatekeeper, SmartScreen, or an unrecognized-publisher warning for an unofficial build.

Before opening the app

  • Confirm the installer matches your computer and the current platform lane.
  • Sign in with an OSPRI Brain account when prompted.
  • Let Setup calculate the actual disk requirement. The required space changes with the selected release.
  • Allow HTTPS access to downloads.ospribrain.com. A proxy, firewall, or unavailable CDN asset can block setup.

Exact setup flow

1

Complete OSPRI Brain sign-in. When authentication succeeds, the desktop app continues.
2

Wait for preflight

Setup checks the operating system, processor, disk estimate, and release availability. Full Workstation is the only normal profile and starts automatically when preflight passes.
3

Start or retry setup if prompted

The fallback control is labelled Start setup now, Retry setup, or Resume saved setup depending on state. There is no separate “Install Full Workstation” button.
4

Follow macOS permissions

macOS asks for Accessibility and Screen Recording only when those capabilities are missing. OSPRI opens one native prompt at a time. Windows reports its current computer-use readiness without these macOS prompts.
5

Configure the required model connection

Open Connections from Setup if no direct model connection is ready. The composer displays the resolved provider and offers a settings control. It does not currently provide a general provider picker.
6

Run the final check

First-run verification checks runtime integrity, the local service and sidecar, permission state, and model readiness. Select Open dashboard only after required checks pass.

What survives a retry

OSPRI preserves completed, verified component archives and installed components. A failed partial archive is deleted and downloaded again. The downloader does not currently resume arbitrary partial bytes with HTTP Range. If the app closes during setup, reopen Setup. It uses saved onboarding progress and skips work that already passed verification.

Your first task

Home displays four starter tasks while the account has fewer than three chats:
  • Analyze a data file
  • Draft a document
  • Research a topic
  • Build a small tool
Selecting a starter creates a chat and prefills the composer. Review or edit the task before sending it.
Limited troubleshooting mode appears only when the safe local minimum is available but Full Workstation still has blockers. It keeps unavailable capabilities disabled and is not the normal onboarding path.
