Threads

Threads let you have a side conversation about a specific message without cluttering the main channel.

Starting a Thread

  1. Hover over any message
  2. Click the thread icon (speech bubble with lines) in the hover action bar
  3. The thread panel opens on the right side
  4. Type your reply in the thread input and press Enter

Viewing Threads

Messages with replies show a “X replies” link below them. Click this link to open the thread panel and see all replies.

Thread Panel

The thread panel shows:
  • Header — “Thread” with a close button
  • Parent message — The original message being discussed
  • Replies — All thread replies in chronological order
  • Input — Send a reply to this thread
Thread replies use the same formatting, reactions, and file sharing as regular messages.
Alex’s screenshot note: Take a screenshot showing the thread panel open on the right side with a parent message at the top and 2-3 replies below it. Show the “X replies” link on a message in the main conversation.

Thread Real-Time Updates

Thread replies are delivered in real-time via Supabase Realtime. New replies appear instantly for everyone viewing the thread.
